One purchase covers one live website
Put it on the internet at one address, for your own business or for one client. Build as many practice copies as you like on your own computer. The count is about sites that are live, not about folders.
It is yours and it does not expire
No subscription, no license key, no activation, no server the kit calls home to, and nothing that stops working if we disappear tomorrow. Edit it, rebuild it, hand it to a different developer in five years.
Freelancers and agencies may use it for client work
Build the site, hand the whole thing to your client, and charge whatever you charge. The license travels with the finished site. One purchase, one client site. Using one kit across many clients is the Agency License, which is separate.
What you may not do is sell the kit
No reselling, repackaging, template bundles, marketplace uploads, or public repositories anyone can download it from. The finished website you build is yours to sell. The kit that built it is not.
No warranty and no performance claims
It was tested and it works, but you are the one launching it, and what you write on it is on you. There is nothing here about rankings, traffic, calls or revenue, because nobody can honestly promise those.
The freelancer question, answered straight
Most people reading a template license are trying to work out one thing: can I use this for a client and hand it over. Yes. Build it, transfer the code and this license with it, charge your own rate, and you never have to mention us. The limit is one live site per purchase, so client number two needs another copy. If you build for clients all year, that is what the Agency License is for, and it is not on sale yet.

The terms
1. Definitions
“Kit” means the files you download, including the code, configuration, documentation and placeholder copy. “You” means the person or company that bought the Kit. “End Site” means one website built from the Kit and published at one primary domain. “We” means Small Town Strategy.
2. Grant
We grant you a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, copy and modify the Kit in order to build and operate one End Site. The license takes effect on purchase and does not expire.
3. What one purchase covers
One purchase covers one End Site. A second live site needs a second purchase or an Agency License. Development copies, staging copies, local copies and backups of your one End Site are not separate sites and are not counted.
4. Client work
You may build the End Site for a client and transfer it to them, including the code and this license, on the same terms. Once transferred, the client operates it under this license and you do not need to keep a copy. You may charge your client anything you like for your work.
5. Modification
You may change anything in the Kit. Modified files stay under this license. You are not required to credit us anywhere on the End Site, and you may remove any reference to us from the code and the markup.
6. What is not permitted
You may not sell, sublicense, rent, lend, give away or otherwise distribute the Kit itself, whether modified or not, as a template, theme, starter, boilerplate or bundle. You may not publish the Kit in a public code repository or anywhere else it can be downloaded by people who did not buy it. You may not use the Kit to build sites for resale as a productized template offering. Distributing the built and deployed End Site is exactly what the Kit is for and is not restricted by this clause.
7. Ownership
We keep ownership of the Kit and its copyright. You own what you write, the content you add, and the End Site you build. Nothing here transfers copyright in the Kit itself.
8. Third party components
The Kit depends on open source packages (Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS and others) that carry their own licenses, which continue to govern those packages. Nothing in this license changes them. The Kit ships no photographs. The reviews and business details in the configuration file are placeholders and are meant to be replaced with real ones before the End Site goes live.
9. No warranty
The Kit is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Kit will meet your requirements or that it will run without interruption or error.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to the Kit is limited to what you paid for it. We are not liable for lost profits, lost business, lost data or any indirect or consequential loss.
11. No performance claims
Nothing in the Kit, its documentation or its marketing is a promise about search rankings, traffic, leads, calls or revenue. Results depend on your market, your trade, your prices, your reviews and your own work.
12. Refunds
Refund terms are set by the store you buy through and are shown at checkout. This license does not change them.
13. Termination
This license ends if you breach section 6. If it ends, you stop using and distributing the Kit. Any End Site already transferred to a client in good faith stays licensed.
14. Governing law
Pennsylvania, United States.
The Agency License
One kit across unlimited client sites, as a single one time purchase. The terms are the same as above except that section 3 does not apply and the kit may be used for any number of End Sites, including sites you build for clients and transfer to them. Section 6 still applies in full, so the kit itself is never resold or redistributed.
It is not priced and it is not on sale. When it is, the price will be on this page. We are not going to print a number here that you cannot actually pay today.
Questions people actually ask
- I am a freelancer. Can I use one kit for a client site?
- Yes, and that is what section 4 is for. Build the site, hand the code and the license to your client, and bill them for your work at whatever your rate is. One purchase covers one client site, so the second client needs a second purchase or the Agency License.
- What counts as one website?
- One live site at one primary domain. Your local copy, a staging copy, a preview deployment and your backups are all the same site, so they do not count separately. Two different businesses on two different domains are two sites.
- Do I really own the code?
- You own your copy of it and the site you build with it, forever, and you can edit it or hand it to any developer at any time. There is no key, no activation and no expiry, so nothing we do later can switch your site off. What we keep is copyright in the kit itself, which is what stops somebody buying one copy and reselling it as their own template.
- Can I remove your name from the code?
- Yes. Section 5 says so outright. No credit is required anywhere on the finished site, in the markup or in the files.
- How much is the Agency License?
- It is not priced and it is not on sale yet. When it is, the price and the terms will be on this page. We would rather say that than publish a number we have not committed to.
- What if I want to build a lot of client sites with it?
- That is exactly what the Agency License is for, and until it exists the honest answer is one purchase per client site. If you are weighing it up, the kit is a normal Next.js project with no lock-in of any kind, so nothing about that decision is hard to reverse later.
